Frequently Asked Questions

About our PADI TecRec Courses in Cancun & the Riviera Maya

What is TecRec diving?

TecRec diving goes beyond recreational limits, allowing trained divers to explore deeper sites, stay longer, and use advanced gas mixes. Our PADI TecRec Courses teach the necessary skills and mindset to dive safely in these environments.

Who can enroll in a Tec course?

To start with the PADI TecRec Courses, you must be a certified Advanced Open Water Diver with at least 30 logged dives, including deep and nitrox dives. You should be in good health and feel comfortable underwater in challenging conditions.

What gear is used in technical diving?

Tec diving requires redundant systems, like twin tanks, sidemount, stage cylinders, backup computers, and more. Our technical diving courses in Cancun include full use of equipment and guidance to help you master its configuration.

How long does it take to complete a TecRec course?

Each PADI TecRec course varies in duration. Tec 40 usually takes 2–3 days, Tec 45 around 3 days, and Tec 50 up to 4 days. The schedule can be adjusted depending on your availability and comfort level.
